Bruce Willis

Bruce Willis, an actor and musician, is famous for playing hard-edged characters or humorous characters in action films. Collectively, he has appeared in films that grossed more than $2.5 billion dollars. Walter Bruce Willis, a West German-born actor, was born in Idar–Obersteinin West Germany on March 19 1955 to Marlene Kassel (from Carneys Point), and David Andrew Willis (from New Jersey), who lived on a base for the military in the United States. His family moved to the United States within a short time following the birth of his son. He was raised in Penns Grove (New Jersey) where his mother was bank clerk while his father was an electrician and worked in the factory. Willis was interested in acting at the age of high school. While working at a New York City café, his name was "discovered". He then was able to be seen in a handful of off-Broadway productions. He was working as a bartender one night when a casting director spotted his style and asked for his services as bartender in a tiny film. After numerous auditions, Willis had a brief appearance in films, usually uncredited, before being cast as the private eye "David Addison" along with the sultry Cybill Shepherd in the hit romantic comedy television show Moonlighting (1985). The sly and wise-cracking P.I. can be seen as an opportunity to practice for the role of hard-boiled NYC detective "John McClane" in the monster-movie Die Hard (1988), in which Willis his character fought a gang of ruthless international thieves in a Los Angeles skyscraper. In Die Hard 2 (1990) Willis reprised his character. A group of rebellious Special Forces soldiers is trying to get back an evil South American general. They are located in Washington's Dulles International Airport. The film's stellar box-office results led to the sequel, Die Hard with avengeance (1995). This time, Samuel L. Jackson starred as a shrewd Harlem shop owner, who was not aware of the fact that he was required to help McClane during a terror attack on a hot New York City day.
