Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie (originally Angelina Jolie Voight) is an American actress and director, famous for her sexy appeal, edginess and humanitarian work. The role she played in Girl, Interrupted (1999) was a part she won for the Academy Award. Jolie, the daughter of actor Jon Voight, spent most of her growing up in New York. She moved to Los Angeles when she was 11. She attended the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute for two years, and later enrolled in Beverly Hills High School. She later studied acting at New York University. She also acted in theatre productions, and was a model for music videos. It was in Hackers (1995) that Jolie was introduced to Jonny Lee Miller, a British actor (married 1997; divorced 1999). It wasn't well-loved like a variety of other movies. Jolie was the segregationist spouse of Alabama's governor, attracting the attention of many in 1997. Jolie later won an Golden Globe Award. In the HBO movie Gia in which she played a supermodel with drug addiction. The actress was awarded numerous honours which included a Golden Globe Award, and Screen Actors Guild Award. Following her Oscar-winning performance Girl, Interrupted, Jolie made an appearance in Pushing Tin, a comedy with John Cusack, Billy Bob Thornton, and in 2003 she divorced. Jolie portrayed the carjacker's girlfriend (Nicolas Cage) in Gone in Sixty Seconds 2000. In the following years, she adopted an accent that resembled a British accent as well as mastered street fights and kickboxing in order to perform the roles in Lara Croft Tomb Raider 2001 and Lara Croft Tomb Raider The Cradle of Life 2003. She played the role of Alexander's mother in Oliver Stone's Alexander in 2004. She additionally, she starred alongside Jude Law and Gwyneth paltrow in Sky Captain: The World of Tomorrow The World of Tomorrow, a thriller that is set in the 1930s in New York City. Both films disappointed in terms of box-office revenue, however Jolie's Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005) was successful. Jolie played a character pretending to be a normal householdwife as she worked on the film. Brad Pitt became her co-star.
